Muskegon Co-op FCU History
Credit Unions are non-profit financial institutions, owned and operated by their members. We have a democratic structure with a voluntary Board of Directors that is elected by our members. Muskegon Co-op Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1949.  Started as a co-operative credit union with a sponsoring Co-op food store.  Credit union membership was open to members of the Co-op store who lived or worked in Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawa and Newaygo counties.  As time passed, Co-Optical Service became the main sponsor base and anyone that lived or worked in Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawa, or Newaygo counties could join.

Members of the Credit Union are also members of Muskegon Co-operative Services, Inc.  In 2008 Muskegon Co-operative Services, Inc. formed a partnership with Sweetwater Local Foods Market.  Through this partnership members receive benefits when they shop at the market, such as, 10% off all food purchases on 4 select Muskegon Co-op market days throughout the year.  Simply show your Muskegon Co-op FCU membership card.
